Fanciful Frolicsome

Artwork of Anke Weckmann

Anke Weckmann declares that "Drawing is her favourite thing in the world", and that joyous passion is demonstrated in her work, especially in this series.

"My work, "she says, "is usually based around the characters I draw. I don't like talking about my work very much, because I am not very intellectual about it. Some parts of my work will be quite obvious and the parts that are not probably cannot be explained. Particularly in my personal work, I work purely from intuition.

"The following are a collection of ink drawings made over the summer, and some of my favourite pieces from the last year."

Anke Weckmann
grew up in Germany and re-located to London in 2001. She spends her days drawing as much as possible, and eating a lot of potatoes. She loves elderflower cordial, black ink, Harriet the Spy and her pink woolly hat. She does not like to talk about her work very much. Since graduating from Kingston University in 2005, she has illustrated a book called “Roar,Bull,Roar” (written by Andrew Fusek Peters), and a range of European and American magazines. http://www.Linotte.net .
