Let It Ride

Paintings and Collages by Katy Horan

I really like folktales, history, nostalgia, animals (specifically bears), roots music and men with beards, amongst other things. I have always loved stories of any kind. I love the opportunity to escape reality for a little bit and be a part of a different life or world, to engage my imagination. I particularly love stories that are a part of a heritage or culture, something that has been passed down from the generations and holds all that history and nostalgia. I make the art that I make to feel the way a great story or even a really beautiful, sad song makes me feel and I hope that those who view my work feel it a little bit too. I also think I make the work I make just to escape to a world where you can have a bear as a friend if you want to or where hedgehogs go on epic journeys…that stuff just doesn’t happen in real life.
